The basic purpose of HIPAA, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act's Security Rule, is to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of electronic protected health information (EPHI) when it is stored, maintained, or transmitted. SMP and Cape Cod Healthcare partnered to develop a preliminary summary of the organizations' information systems, use of electronic information (including EPHI) and Cape Cod Healthcare's security posture vis a vis their business needs. SMP helps guide Genzyme’s compliance effort with Massachusetts 201 CMR 17, a regulation which establishes minimum standards to safeguard personal information (paper or electronic) about a resident of MA. Acushnet Company, home of the Titleist ®, FootJoy®, and Pinnacle® golf brands engaged SMP to conduct application penetration testing. Welch’s engaged SMP to validate the wireless security posture of its network and confirm the architectural layout of its current and new wireless technologies. |
